The place
Every city needs one restaurant that refuses to change, and in Amsterdam this is it. Wooden tables, parquet, daylight, and a steak that arrives swimming in its own butter. Nobody comes here for the wine list. People come here because they have been coming here, and because it is the easiest place in town to bring someone who does not want to be impressed.
Before you go
Order it medium rare and take bread. The sauce on the plate is the whole point and leaving it is close to rude.
